We’re hiring: Scaling Wellness in Milwaukee communication intern
Make a difference as a communication intern for a major initiative in Milwaukee. SWIM — Scaling Wellness in Milwaukee, a community trauma initiative based at Marquette University, seeks an intern to help strengthen and promote this initiative. The intern will be co-managed by the Office of the President and the Office of Marketing and Communication (OMC) at Marquette for 12–15 hours a week of work.
What will I learn? What career will this prepare me for?
This internship is great preparation for a communication specialist or similar position. You’ll learn how to update websites and the best ways to get people to notice and care about your messages on social media. You’ll learn how to use analytics tools to tell whether your efforts are working. You might even find yourself writing press releases or assisting with video shoots.
What will my job be?
Make updates and help manage the SWIM website with the assistance of OMC
Launch/manage SWIM’s social media presence with the assistance of OMC
Help manage the SWIM email inbox
Help manage the SWIM e-newsletter list and content
Who will I work with?
The Office of the President and OMC. You’ll be mentored by social media, digital, design, and media relations pros. You’ll get to manage complex projects and work with several campus and community leaders — a great opportunity and great for your resume.

Preferred skills
What are skills that would help move me to the front of the line?
A basic understanding of HTML or an interest in learning
Experience creating templates for social media content such as infographics, curated social media posts, Snapchats, etc.
Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop
Prior internship experience is preferred
Spanish bi-lingual students encouraged to apply
