Get to Know: Tina Boyle Whyte, adjunct instructor in the Department of Computer Sciences

Get to know Tina Boyle Whyte, an adjunct instructor at Marquette University in the Department of Computer Sciences. Tina served and is now retired from the United States Air Force Reserves after 30 years. Throughout her military career, Tina provided Leadership Development Training to over 700 reservists throughout the United States. Now, in addition to teaching at Marquette, she fills other important roles on campus such as Upward Bound Math Science Instructor and project coordinator for the ROTC & TRIO Upward Bound CyberPatriot Project.

Biggest career learning experience: Patience is the key to living. There is power in my words. I have the ability to navigate life if I remain patient and positive.

What led you to Marquette: I attended Marquette University in 1987 as a young first-generation high school student. Marquette was my first and only choice. I graduated from the Arts & Science program with a degree in Criminology & Life Studies. After many years, as destiny would have it, I have returned to Marquette as faculty to make a difference for students who look like me and have a similar background as a first generation. I am destined to help these students have an opportunity to make in this life and make a difference while doing so.
Favorite part of your job: Working with students.
Your hopes for your work/for Marquette: I love that Marquette’s model is ‘BE THE DIFFERENCE’. This motto follows right behind my Air Force Core Values.
